Starting February
continuing the chinese new year celebration, the first of February arrived with a beautiful 4-mile hike in Tilden with the compound (Jahan, Terren and Siena kicked booty!), christening 2 of our favorite families with dumpling making from scratch (Negean will never live down "are we done yet?" ), post-dinner foot massages with Trevor and Karen followed by a late-night dessert. thank you Tiffany for sleep-watching our kids!
2 nights before her 2nd birthday party, may may (wearing hand-me-down pants that were too long) took a fall in the kitchen right before bedtime. although may may was limping, dad made the calculus (believing that she probably broke something in her leg) and decided to put her to sleep instead of go to the hospital. we woke up and she still could not bear weight. dad knew that she had broken her ankle/leg. so instead of shopping for party food, we went to get an x-ray, a cast, and say hello to our favorite orthopod and cast technicians at kaiser. they still remember us from our 2 visits with terren, one of which was a broken finger playing twister during our thanksgiving party a few years back. may may got her cast, signatures for her cast, and lots of empathy just in time for her birthday party with her closest buddies. we learned that not only is she a klutz but she also has stealth candle blowing skills. it was an afternoon/evening full of wonderful company, yummy chinese food (made and orchestrated by po po), 2 flavors of j's homemade icecream, a candlelit banana, and chinese new year gambling. what's more to want when you're 2?
