yin and yang

december 2015

17 hours of dress rehearsal later and 6 trips into the city in one week, terren performs christmas carols at davies symphony hall in san francisco and the first congregational church in berkeley with a ton of other girls in the san francisco girls' chorus. her performance shoes killed and terren's attitude stunk. is it worth the pomp and circumstance? it was a couple weeks of hell for mom and dad. maybe she'll want to quit at the end of the year?

the second half of december was recharge, relaxing, and wholly educational. it was our first real international trip and nando, martha, amili, and diego hosted us in nando's home region of jalisco. it was complete with awesome tacos; chocolate milk fresh from the cow's udder; the most exposure to christianity via lots of stories about the jesus and mary paintings and statues all throughout mexico; water slides and play at the local hot springs and water park; mangos on a stick; xmas eve dinner until past midnight with their local family "bringing in xmas;" play in the plaza; more tacos; and the amazing pools and beach. xmas was spent eating fresh icecream at the malecon playing with all the locals at the park, the market, the streets and singing and dancing over fresh churros. what a refreshing change to hang out with community instead of opening presents and gloating over materials items. thanks to our wonderful mexican family!
