money and materialism? let's do music

thanks to all our family and friends for helping terren raise $4,850 in her readathon this year. we are deeply appreciative. after going electronic, increasing the competition, and marketing like a nut for 3 years, mom is retiring from running the readathon.

terren doesn't like to talk much but she can be bold in her questioning. at a family jazz show in SF headed by julliard-trained etienne charles, terren walked up to the mike and asked the band, "how much money do you get?" the band members, as well as the entirety of the adult audience, bursted into a VERY long bout of laughter and jostling each other on the stage. eventually, etienne replied, "we don't do this for the money."

we closed the year with a PURGE, beginning with 5 days of all the kids' stuff before xmas. 30 hours and 20 boxes later, we have empty shelf space. :-) the best thing is that we left anything that couldn't be donated or given away (e.g. underwear, old bead necklaces, dental cleanser, 20-year-old bug repellent) on our fence and EVERYTHING got picked up by someone. REUSE, RECYCLE, REPURPOSE!!

gimpy dancing with the ER crew, monarchs soccer party, a tearful lion king with bump and jack, amazing dinner at laura and harry's, birthday magic with safina, orchestral xmas jamming with the moore's/nelson's (see photo), cookie decorating with wes, made of love party, candy cane cookie-making with cyrkler and liam, xmas with cat and the lee's, welcoming po po and ye ye back into town, new year's eve eve eating filet at lawrence's, and dancing as raccoons at mica and eva's all made for a rockin' december. let's flush 2016 down the toilet!
