Tales

Spring is Here… and where is the Easter Bunny?

“The Easter bunny is coming tomorrow!” the girls exclaimed.

“I’m pretty sure she’s not coming to our house,” dad said.

“Why not?” the girls inquire after recalling last year’s visit to Carina and Tobey’s house in Lake Tahoe when we all skied together.

“She’s never been to our house before, and we never invite her, so I’m pretty sure she won’t come again this year.”

“Awwww……” (disappointment)

Although Easter didn’t involve us hiding a bunch of cheap chocolate in plastic eggs or dyeing a bunch of real eggs at our house, it did turn into a wonderful day. While dad was busy sleeping off a late shift, the ladies snuck over to Ethan and Jane’s house, where they and Wesley had prepared traditional Easter secular fun, like egg hunts, decorations, and … candy.  So the girls were delighted, and we kept alive our 8 year streak of not inviting the Easter bunny to our house! Then the party moved over to our place in the evening for wonton wrapping, because everyone knows that is an Easter classic. Delicious! And T and K loved wrapping them and playing with Wes.

The sun is out, the rain is finally done for the year, and during K’s spring break week we were able to plant some starters into our veggie box that got woefully neglected last year. “I never knew that gardening was so much fun, dad!” Koda said.
