Cruising with the Disney corporation 2

The idea was simple enough at the start.

“Can we take the girls on a Disney cruise?” A generous offer from Popo and Yeye. A vacation that handles the necessities. The kids will be entertained and safe. A break for Justin and Lynn. The first time they would have more than one night without their kids.

Tickets were purchased. Plans were made.

Then Popo’s sisters heard of the idea, and wanted to bring their grandkids as well as celebrate Po Po's 80th birthday. And then the parents, Lynn's cousins, joined in. Plus, Yeye got a bad spell of vertigo which never really went away, and Popo started having chronic back pain limiting her mobility.

The cruise was turning into a Yang family reunion so Lynn and Justin bought their own tickets for a piece of “Disney Magic.”

Let’s just say, without surprise, that Disney was true to its traditions, selling the idea that all your dreams will come true if you really want it enough and have the right appearances. Everyone is attractive, heterosexual, and lives happily ever after. The girls gorged on the Disney movies showing all day long, and with Popo and Yeye in charge and intent on indulging the girls, they had Mickey waffles, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream every morning. Fortunately, the girls ignored the Disney sucker attractions, and got some quality time with their grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. And 19 of us enjoyed dinner together every night and partied with Pirates, watched fireworks, awed at magic shows, and laughed at Po Po screaming as she thought MM was being kidnapped. The four of us even enjoyed some beautiful beach time in Baja and amazing surf lessons in Ensenada, which was pretty awesome.

Lynn and Justin got sleep, exercise, and some break time, too- and even watched Captain Marvel twice in the onboard theater.

Thank you, Popo and Yeye!
